We are a high school student publication and must consider our overall audience as well as guidelines set forth by HCSD, therefore we reserve the right to not use certain responses or photos in the publication.
This is a student publication by students for other students. Although we have made every attempt to make this an accurate account of the year, some errors are bound to occur.
Publication Deadlines: You missed a deadline or “had no idea” about it. That is unfortunate. However the yearbook advertises all major deadlines through Yearbook Canvas Corner, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, the daily school announcements which are also available online, and school generated emails. If you are not in the building for announcements, it would be advisable to follow one of these options not only for yearbook information, but for general school information as well.
Additionally, we must submit sections of the yearbook to the publisher throughout the year to meet their established deadlines.
You don’t like your school picture: Sometimes that happens. However the yearbook does not take the school pictures. This is contracted through an outside company who then gives the photos to the school and to us. We do not decide who that company is or what they do.
If it makes you feel better, here are my school photos; fourth grade though 8th appear to have been rough.
Your name is misspelled or you have found another misspelling: We’re sorry about that. We try our best to catch errors like this however even professional publications make mistakes in copy editing. I assure you that we are not professionals. Yearbook Production is a student publication class one period a day populated by a dedicated, but teenaged staff with a lot on their minds: mistakes will be made.
Refunds:
You personalized the yearbook or wrote in it. It is now yours. Enjoy it.
Not personalized, we can help as long as you have not written in the yearbook or damaged it.
Before writing in your book, check carefully to make sure there are no printing flaws in your book such as: blank pages, upside down pages, missing pages, printing smears. If you discover any of these or other physical flaws, please bring the book to Ms. Stewart before you write in the book. Once you have written in the book or personalized it, it’s yours to keep!
Complaints or Suggestions: If you have any complaints about the book, or recommendations for next year, please put them in writing, suggest a way to solve the problem, and bring it to room 240.
Names & Grades: We really want to include all 1600+ of you, but we don’t personally know all of you. Therefore:
Grades used in the yearbook are based on the information we receive from the main office.
Names used in the yearbook are based on the information we receive from the main office. Your name in the system is the one we will use in the yearbook.
Memorial Pages: We do not create memorial pages. However Wish Ads are available for purchase if buyers would like to use that space and the accompanying guidelines to memorialize a student or staff member.
